To steal a line from the popular christmas song, Baby it’s cold outside! At least here in the twin cities it is.
So we headed to the one place guaranteed to warm you and lift your spirits. Of course, I am talking about the Como Conservatory or as it is now known, the Marjorie Conservatory.
Chances are that if you live here or have visited the St. Paul, Minneapolis area, you have been to the conservatory. Located at Como Park, next to the Como Park Zoo, the conservatory, which opened in 1915, has an acre of gardens under glass. It is free to enter, with a suggested donation of $2/adults, which is such a bargain.
Even though the Como holiday show is on now, with poinsettias filling the sunken garden room, it is the orchids that are the star for me. There are so many varieties which are rotated and spread through out the various gardens. Nothing says warm and tropical like an orchid.
Of course, as a wedding floral designer, orchids are at the top of my most requested list. While they can be out of the budget for many brides, there are ways to use them that are budget friendly, but still look amazing. I thought I would share a few of my favorites from our recent visit.
I love color (always have, always will). But I am currently enthralled with pale and subtle flowers.
Sometimes we need to slow down and see the beauty in our world that doesn’t smack you in the face, but grows as you spend more time with it. And these white orchids are just too beautiful to resist.
If you are a prospective bride and want to learn more about using orchids in your wedding flowers, be sure to visit my website, Arabella Weddings. Look for the link on the side bar.
Hope you enjoy looking at these 0rchids and have a great new year.
